Summer Term

bu_yaz_donemi.jpg (298×251) Boğaziçi University Summer Term is an intensive seven-week program where a rich variety of courses on social and natural sciences, humanities, and engineering in almost all subject areas can be found. B.U. Summer Term begins in the last week of June and ends by mid-August. The language of instruction at Boğaziçi University is English. All students must fulfill the English proficiency requirements of the university except those students or graduates of universities where the official language of instruction is English. Boğaziçi students, students of other higher education institutions and recent graduates of high schools who already have an acceptance from a college or a university abroad can apply to take courses during the Summer Term.

About the Summer Term: BOĞAZİÇİ UNIVERSITY SUMMER TERM

The Summer Term is an academic session held separately from the two regular semesters of an academic year. It takes place annually from mid-June to the first week of August.

Boğaziçi University’s Summer Term is a 7-week intensive academic program offering courses in Fine Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities, Natural Sciences, Education, History, Linguistics, and Engineering. Each year, more than 300 courses are offered during this term, providing students with the opportunity to engage with renowned academics from both Boğaziçi University and other prestigious institutions in Turkey and abroad.

The medium of instruction at Boğaziçi University is English, and unless otherwise stated, all Summer Term courses are taught in English. During the Summer Term, students may enroll in up to 10 credits or 3 courses. Requests by special students to exceed these limits are evaluated by the Summer Term Administrative Board upon the student’s application. Requests by Boğaziçi University students are reviewed by the Administrative Board of the student’s registered faculty.

All students enrolled in the Summer Term have access to Boğaziçi University’s full range of social and cultural facilities. On the South Campus, there is an outdoor swimming pool and tennis courts; on the Uçaksavar Campus, there is a sports complex equipped with a football field, athletics track, and a fully equipped gym; and on the Hisar Campus, a semi-Olympic indoor swimming pool is available.

Additionally, participants are issued a BU ID card during the Summer Term, which grants access to the university library and allows them to benefit from campus facilities just like regular students or faculty members. Most importantly, participants can take advantage of Boğaziçi University’s exceptional educational experience while enjoying its unique historical atmosphere, at one of Turkey’s leading universities.

Accommodation needs of visiting students or faculty for the Summer Term will be met depending on availability and conditions.
