Culture and Arts

Boğaziçi University hosts a wide range of cultural and artistic events across diverse fields. One of the key elements that makes Boğaziçi University unique and valuable is the vibrancy and dynamism that cinema, music, theatre, literature, and contemporary arts bring to campus life. Over the years, the university’s dynamic artistic and cultural environment has nurtured many distinguished figures in the arts and culture. Particularly through student club activities, students play a significant role in creating and performing artistic and cultural events on campus. For decades, student clubs have organized concerts, theatre plays, film screenings, talks, and exhibitions primarily at the South Campus as well as other university venues.

Thanks to institutional initiatives such as the Mithat Alam Film Center and the Nazım Hikmet Center for Culture and Arts Research, it has become possible to host meetings and events on our campuses that extend beyond the university borders, contributing to the cultural life of Istanbul and Turkey. Similarly, the classical music concerts held for many years at Albert Long Hall have earned a respected place in the city’s musical landscape. From time to time, exhibitions, concerts, and meetings are organized in collaboration with prestigious cultural and artistic institutions such as the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts and the British Council. Among the regular events at our university, since 2013, the Boğaziçi Chronicles initiative has hosted distinguished scholars, artists, and cultural figures from outside Turkey at Tubini House on the South Campus, providing an opportunity for them to engage and share their work and ideas primarily with students and the university community.
