The Department of Tourism Administration offers the nation’s first M.A. degree in Sustainable Tourism Management.

Tourism provides a significant contribution to cities, regions, societies and countries, however the recent trends in the field of tourism require a sustainable approach for managing tourism organizations. Sustainable Tourism Management Program is for future academicians that would like to specialize in the area of sustainability, people working in the public and not-for-profit sectors working on policy issues and specialized projects and for those who would like further their careers in the private sector. The program is anchored on three pillars of sustainability; namely environment, society and economy. The compulsory courses cover these three areas of sustainable tourism management and also equip students with research methods that will be instrumental in conducting their thesis study. Additionally, students choose from a list of electives that cover specialized areas of tourism.

The program accepts applicants from various backgrounds with an interest in tourism management. The graduate program is designed to be completed in four semesters. The students are to take 9 courses (24 credits) in two semesters. After completing 24 credit hours of course work, candidates are expected to write a thesis in the area of sustainable tourism management.
