The Department of Tourism Administration aims to educate and train students for managerial positions in the field of tourism.
The department program offers professional courses which are complemented by courses in economics, finance, marketing, management, communication, behavioral sciences, food and beverage. An industrial training period of minimum 60 workdays during summer months is part of the study. Lectures and seminars conducted by leading practitioners are incorporated into the program to familiarize the students with the industry. Proficiency in a second language in addition to English is also an aim of the program.
Integration with the industry is attained by joint training projects that are of mutual benefit to students and the members of the tourism industry. The research projects assigned to the students during the course of the program are instrumental in developing a theoretical framework. Field studies expose students to the actual operational structure of the industry as well as giving them a chance to make contact with the employers of the service sector.
