Boğaziçi University in Top 500 of QS World University Rankings 2015
The Quacquarelli Symonds World University Rankings Report for 2015-16 which was unveiled on September 15, 2015 lists Boğaziçi University among the top 500 universities in the world.
Boğaziçi University is ranked 3rd sharing the bandwith with Sabancı University amongst the only 5 Turkish Universities to make the top 500 list, following Bilkent University ranking first and ODTU second.
In the QS 2015-16 list, Boğaziçi University is ranked in the 441-450 band. The University’s ranking was 399th during the 2014-15 Academic Year, up from its ranking in 461-470 band during 2013-14.
The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) is leading the list of 800 Universities followed by Harward University ranking second and University of Cambridge and Stanford University jointly ranking 3rd.
Based on the following set of indicators, the rankings are designed to assess universities in four areas; research, teaching, employability and internationalization. Academic reputation based on survey data collected from academics (40%), Employer reputation based on a global survey (10%), Student-to-faculty ratio measuring number of academic staff per student (20%), Citations per faculty aiming to assess universities’ research impact (20%), and international faculty ratio (5%) & international student ratio (5%) which are used to assess how successful is a university in attracting international students and academics.
QS will announce the ranking of top 100 universities in Emerging Europe and Central Asia region at an international launch event to be held at Boğaziçi University on October 21, 2015
