This program has been designed for educators with a degree in elementary school education. The aim of the program is to empower teachers with a state of the art masters program where they can encounter the current trends and innovations in teaching in the early years. After the completion of the program the teachers are expected to be literate in research, confident in evidence based decision-making and designing learning environments for children with diverse characteristics.

Conceptions of teaching, analysis of pedagogical situations and innovative teaching practices, developing/improving personal practices. Integrating technology according to one's conception of teaching, cognitive load theory, learning curve.

Review of current science education approaches in relation to national and international curriculum documents. Methods, strategies, and materials for conceptual learning along with skill development. Understanding nature of science from a broader perspective. Asking questions about natural and social phenomena, using various ways of investigations, reaching evidence-based arguments, evaluating arguments.

Characteristics of students with learning disabilities (LD) and/or Attention Deficit-Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Causes of LD and ADHD. Types of LDs with a special focus on dyslexia, dyscalculia, dysgraphia. Strategies to cope with the consequences of LDs and ADHD. Classroom accommodations and teaching techniques to enhance the academic abilities of students with LD/ ADHD.
