Academic Policies and Courses of Study
Bogazici University grants Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degrees upon completion of eight semester programs offered by its faculties and the School of Foreign Languages. Master of Arts and Master of Science degrees are granted upon completion of four semester programs offered by the institutes. The institutes also offer programs leading to the Doctor of Philosophy degree. These programs generally involve a minimum of six semesters of study beyond a Master of Arts or Science degree. Further information concerning the programs of study required by each department for a Bachelor's, Master's or Ph.D. degree can be found under separate categories for each department.
Double-major programs involving two departments within a faculty may be pursued in most cases. In some cases double-major programs involving departments in different faculties may be pursued as well. It is also generally possible to change majors within the first two years of a program without extending the normal length of study.
The School of Foreign Languages provides intensive courses in the English language ranging from one to two semesters to all incoming students whose English is not adequate for following Freshman courses.

The Summer term at Bogazici University is an intensive seven-week program that includes a wide variety of courses in the social and natural sciences, history, language, engineering and education. As an extension of the regular academic program in which Bogazici University students can fulfill their credit requirements, the summer term maintains the same high academic standards that are applied during the regular academic year. Courses are equivalent in credit to those offered in the Fall and Spring semesters but have twice as many class hours per week.
Matriculated Bogazici University students may enroll in Summer term courses provided that they meet the pre-requisites and that their proposed program is approved by their academic advisors. Registration for the Summer term must be initiated and completed during the period announced in the academic calendar. Grades received in the Summer term are included in the grade point average.
